James Root: Bei Stone Sour geht es nur ums Geld

Gitarrist James Root legt keinen Wert auf eine Reunion mit seiner Band STONE SOUR, die ihn unlängst vor die Tür gesetzt hat: Einige seiner früheren Bandkollegen würden lediglich poppige Rocksongs fürs Radio schreiben wollen. Daran hätte er kein Interesse. Mindestens ein STONE-SOUR-Mitglied sei demnach nur auf kommerziellen Erfolg aus.

Hier das Statement im O-Ton: „Some of the guys in STONE SOUR, I think they just want to be a radio band and write strictly for radio and try to be more of a poppy rock band. And that’s not really what I’m into. There’s at least one guy in the band that’s only concemed about money. I really have no desire to associate with people like that anymore.“

Ursache für seinen Rauswurf war, dass Root sich gegen eine weitere STONE-SOUT-Tour  ausgesprochen hatte, da er sich seiner Hauptband SLIPKNOT mehr verpflichtet gefühlt und diese als vernachlässigt angesehen hatte.

„It became apparent to me near the end of the album cycle for ‚House Of Gold & Bones‘ that it had basically run its course. But the band kept pushing for more dates, and I was just, like, ‚It’s time to stop!‘ SLIPKNOT made it possible for STONE SOUR to have everything that it has and there were people in SLIPKNOT that have been sitting idly waiting to do a new album. And I had fans asking me every day, ‚When are you doing SLIPKNOT?'“
